Barbara Wachsman

Barbara Wachsman, MPH, MCP served as the Director of Strategy and Engagement for all Enterprise Benefits for the Walt Disney Company.  In this position she leads the strategic initiatives and her team designs new benefits programs and evaluates existing offerings to address Disney’s long term healthcare and retirement goals and objectives.  

 

Prior to joining The Walt Disney Company, Ms. Wachsman spent over twenty years in senior management positions with two international benefit consulting firms, as well as served a Principal with Arthur Andersen, where she ran the West Regional Human Capital practice.

 

Ms. Wachsman is a national speaker on topics such as hospital/physician/employer relations, effective managed care models and physician reimbursement models, wellness programs and incentives and has published articles in Pension&InvestmentsBusiness Insurance and specialty health care journals about the value of managed care.   Much of her work has involved helping employers and providers create more effective, direct partnerships.  She is currently the Chair of the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH), one of the largest and most established employer coalitions of employers in the country and also participates on the Executive Committee of IHA.   Ms. Wachsman has created a Strategy Lab at Disney which evaluates and funds startups in the healthcare space, three of which currently are pilots providing services to Disney Cast Members.  She is also the Public Member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

 

She holds Master of Public Health and Master of City and Regional Planning/Architecture degrees from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Scripps College in Claremont, California where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree.

 

Ms. Wachsman and her husband Andrew live in Pasadena California and, in her personal time,Ms. Wachsman is a competitive equestrienne.
