John Connolly was a 2022 Zetema Fellow, and is a 2023 MD Candidate and 21st Century Scholar at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
As a Zetema Project Fellow, his role is to participate and present in Project meetings, contribute to Project research and writing, and enhance the Project’s network by engaging with the Project’s Panelists, Contributors, and staff.
John is interested in combining a career in clinical medicine with work in health services research, health system leadership, and public service. Prior to medical school, he worked with Aledade on establishing contracts between commercial payors and primary care ACOs. As a medical student at Penn, he has conducted health services research on the impacts of alternative payment methodologies on vulnerable populations, and he has served as the medical director for a multidisciplinary primary care clinic in West Philadelphia. His writing and research have appeared in Health Affairs, the USA Today Network, and Medpage Today.
John earned a BA from the University of Virginia with majors in History and Government, where he was a Jefferson Scholar.
